Tuesday 18th May

Darned cold night – but that was the price we had paid for a beautiful morning. Sun warmed MH quickly. Short drive and stopped off at Langres, beautifully fortified town. Trouble setting MH alarm when parked. Had to leave it unalarmed. Had lovely Grand Cremes in town centre – pricy 6 Euros. Looked for wi-fi connection without success. Directed to the local MacDonalds by a computer shop – gave that a miss. Wandered into Dijon, successfully negotiated City Centre, looking for a site apparently near the river. Never did find it. Found driving in a busy city easier in a MH than the car. More street presence I suppose, locals gave us plenty of space. Gave up on search and decided to head for Dole, stopping in lay-by for lunch. Still having problems with alarm, then discovered that the rear “boot” hatch was open. Don’t know how we didn’t lose some of the contents, and surprised that no one beeped us because it was swinging. So alarm was fine, security was the issue. After lunch headed down the D road towards Dole, and spotted a sign showing camping. Followed the sign for an incredible distance, not sure the sign was for our discovered location – Restaurant Camping de la Chanoie at Pontailler sur Saone (pon tie yer sore soan). Quite a large full facility site still opening up. In the sun, decided we would give it at least two days, so booked accordingly. 34 Euros which was not bad, really. Site owners spoke no English, but managed to understand (we think) what they were telling us. Had brief pleasure of watching the French equivalent of the Red Arrows practicing over head.
