Saturday 15^th May.

MH parked overnight on next door neighbour's drive, fully fuelled, mainly packed. Finished off Saturday morning and away approx 8.15 am. Motored comfortably approx 60 mph. First break on M6 near Coventry. Underway and second break on M25 at Dartford Crossing. On restart, disaster! Satnav would not start. Kept going through start routine then turning off. Back to map reading, or at least when we get to France. Motored comfortably to Dover Eastern Docks and presented early at check in. £10 surcharge for earlier crossing – which was far from full. Underway on time. Conscious that French supermarkets close on Sunday, so anxious to find somewhere open on Saturday. Drive through Calais and could not find anything open. Bryn got run in the sandhills near Sangatte, fed there. Used ACSI book to work out directions to site at Guines. Got there without too much hassle. Good site, spacious. Cold wind. Not much food on board so had an omelette with tinned ham. Chris needing intensive care after grappling with tin.
