Scotland 09

Well what a let down I have been. Having too much fun with the MH and have totally neglected the site. Now must put that right. Come September 2009 we decided to explore Scotland, the only time Chris had been there was on a day trip to Edinburgh whilst on holiday in Northumberland the previous year. Being a little nervous of being left on a grass verge, we booked all our sites before we left. Not what Motorhoming is supposed to be about! However, up to C&CC site at Luss, on the banks of Loch Lomond where we were rewarded with a magnificent pitch right at the edge of the Loch. A very peaceful night's sleep (although must remember to have a torch to hand - particularly when Chris departed for the shower block and became totally disorientated on the way back). The following morning, whilst enjoying my slightly unadventurous breakfast cereal, staring out to the loch, I heard a distant shout. "Help, help!" My God! Somewhere near the middle of the loch I could make out someone in the water waving. What to do? Well, thank God for a mobile signal, got through to emergency services who took the details (but did not know where the Luss C&CC site was). In the meantime, fellow campers got their boat underway, but even before they arrived another boat from the other side of the loch had got to the person in the water. Actually, two persons, father and 11 year old son who were on a jetski which suddenly sank (hit a sunken obstruction?). Wow! Minutes later a most impressive twin engined RIB arrived having been deployed by Strathclyde Police. Good to think that help came from many directions.

We spent two nights at Luss, pleasant signposted walks available, nice local restaurant were we regretted not sharing a starter of Haggis, Tatties and Neeps. That would have given us a true taste of Scotland. Never mind, had a good meal all the same.
