Luss to Skye

Good run from The Trossachs to the Isle(s) of Skye, although the purists complain it is no longer an island now that the bridge has been built. Thanks to a campaign by the locals and a decision by the then newly created Scottish Assembly, no charge. Beautiful run through the Highlands, stopping off for lunch at the impressive Commando Memorial near Spean Bridge. Overlooking Ben Nevis and other impressive Munros. Weather absolutely beautiful. How lucky are we? Finally via Kyle of Localsh onto the said bridge and first time onto the Island. Roads unquestionably good. Slightly scary Cuillins, up to the main town, Portree, where we turned left to get to the C&CC site on the banks of Loch Greshornish. The site was not to disappoint, although the shower block was a little rudimentary. But you can put up with that to experience the sight and sound of otters in the sea loch. Three nights we had booked for and enjoyed the tranquility, the isolation and the sheer beauty of these islands. No TV, no mobile signal, but who cared?
